Where Eagles Dare

Cautions: language, immodesty and brief sensuality, pervasive violence and some gore, and mild egalitarianism

Where Eagles Dare is a gritty WWII movie that gets at least its fair share of intrigue, action and explosives when an American assassin is mysteriously added to a British espionage team headed deep into Nazi territory.  The mission is to infiltrate a Bavarian fortress surrounded by deadly Alpine cliffs and Nazi troops, where the only way in and out is the heavily-guarded cable car, and where the only human beings who can be trusted to stay on their own side of the war are the Germans.

Immodesty and Brief Sensuality
An unmarried couple kisses passionately.

A woman in German barmaid attire, revealing deep cleavage, is involved in a few scenes.

A man bluntly tells a woman to take her clothes off, but it turns out to be merely a joke taking advantage of the technicality that he needed her to change into other clothes and she would therefore have to take her original apparel off (albeit not in front of him).  He also comes upon a female spy’s neglige and remarks to her, “I see you’ve come fully prepared,” again more as a dry joke than an inappropriate advance.  To start a diversion, a woman pretends that a man had pinched her rear end.

Pervasive Violence and Some Gore
Where Eagles Dare contains numerous explosion, machine gun and hand-to-hand combat scenes, and several characters (mostly bad guys) are killed.

One of the main characters is an assassin and is seen shooting and stabbing Nazis in a cold-blooded manner.  In one scene he slits a man’s throat, although the action is somewhat camouflaged by his other movements.

Gore includes a couple of brief shots of red-paint colored blood spurting or pouring out of bullet holes.  A man is kicked in the nose and blood goes everywhere.  A character is stabbed in the arm with a pickaxe.  There are also a couple of bloody faces of dying or dead men, and a main character is seen wiping blood off his knife.

A man is found dead and it is said that his neck was broken, although he is in a natural position.  There are a couple of car wrecks, including a fiery wreck.  Someone falls a long distance to their death, but the impact is not shown.  Another man commits suicide by jumping from a great height, but again the impact is not shown.  A man is seen on fire.

Mild Egalitarianism
Two female spies are involved in the mission, and are essentially women soldiers on the front lines.  This is not emphasized as a philosophy, and the women are not intentionally put in quite as much immediate danger as the male spies, but they do end up exchanging some machine gun fire with the bad guys.

Note:
Characters smoke cigarettes a few times.

Characters drink alcohol in a number of scenes.
